The Tips You Need to Get Your Kids Excited for Oral Hygiene

Posted .

Oral hygiene is vital for your oral health, which is why you need to encourage your child to have an oral hygiene routine while they’re young. If they start young, there is a good chance they’ll have a strong and healthy smile in the future. So, to help you get your child excited for oral hygiene, our Central Oregon Dental Center dental team encourages you to do the following things:

Get products that are made for kids: If you walk down the oral hygiene aisle at the store, you’ll see products that are made for children. Oftentimes this includes toothbrushes and toothpastes that have different animated characters on them. So, purchase a brush and paste that has your child’s favorite character. This can help them enjoy cleaning their smile.

Make it a game: If brushing and flossing are games for your child, they’ll likely like to play! So, make brushing a competition. See how many bubbles your child can make while they are scrubbing their teeth. You can also tell them that floss acts just like a superhero. It destroys all of the bad and mean bacteria and particles in your smile, just like Superman and Batman eliminate the bad guys in their cities!

Brush with them: Brushing might be fun for your child if you make it a family activity. While you brush, get the whole family involved, even your dog! You can all take turns brushing each other’s teeth. While you clean your smiles, play some music and dance along.

Doing these things will likely help your child get more excited about caring for their smile.
